Does anyone have a good reference guide to using the quilting ruler to its full potential? I know all the angles and markings are very important to accurate cutting just needs some visuals to understand.

Hi, These are some of my favorite rulers and favorite tutorials: http://www.ezquilt.com/tutorials/tutorials.htm . There are fantastic tutorials on all things quilting on YouTube. I especially enjoy the Missouri Quilt Co and Crazy Shortcut Quilts, but the tutorials are really endless. Wish our highspeed was a little faster, but even with the starts and stops they are extremely helpful. Have fun! Best things I've learned for technique: light even pressure, rotary cutter at 90 degrees, careful fabric prep to avoid doglegs, and I love Invisigrip to avoid slippage. Good luck and enjoy!

Thank you very much I will check into the sights, I really want to learn the best tips in the beginning so they stay with me as I grow and perfect my skill. Light presser will remind me to relax and joy the moment...see quilting can be stress free...right?

Do a search for how to use quilting rulers and there are several videos that pop up to watch.

    Hi Colleen, I'm also Colleen!
Just remembered this wonderful book. It's been around for awhile, but it sure isn't stale. Here's a link to google books so you can look at some of the contents: http://books.google.ca/books?id=sgUS...age&q&f=false.
I've had this one out of my local library so many times they probably think I should be paying leasing fees!
Great resource and I hope you find it helpful.
    Have a good one! colleen

    Colleen,
Thank you so much for responding, this book is perfect from not only learning to cut with the cutter and ruler but so much other information. I am very interested in making this a resource as the author wrote she like do make her quilts with skill and good technique. You have made my day. By the way you have a wonderful name.

    Best wishes,
    Colleen

Hi Colleen, Speaking of wonderful names LOL... Here's a link I came across earlier today. I haven't fully checked it out yet; there's tons of stuff. You might find it worth a look. http://quiltinglibrary.blogspot.com/ I'm really glad you like the looks of the book. I found it very helpful. There are a handful that I go back to over and over again. Have fun!
