I am assuming these are the Schmetz MY1014 needles that Kevin Pinkerton has recommended? If anyone has used them and they work in your machine, let us know!!

If the Schmetz needles work, buying them 100 at a time will definitely save money. I have NOT tried these myself, as I bought a lifetime supply when I heard the 127 X 1 needles were being discontinued.

FYI, I have heard that needles for the 306 were being discontinued as well. If you have Singer 206/306/319/320 machines, now is the time. . . . .
Sorry, Miz Johnny I found which needles you were referring to, but how do we find them 100 at a time? I'm with Charlee, I don't know where to get them?

Ok, I have a question for you! Since you sold your FW (I would have loved to buy that from you) and since you really like to treadle, what do you take to your quilt retreats to sew on? I know you are not taking a treadle!

Please post a picture of the Gritzer treadle. I never heard of that one!

But not all Lowes are created equal. I tried two who did not carry it. If all else fails, try online - http://www.scottsliquidgold.com/scot...ts.html#100140

Hi to everyone... Just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed this topic... and yes the Vintage Bug has bitten me..lol
I bought an old Singer Machine off of Craigslist for $20.00, It needs lots of cleaning and repair to the cabinet but I think it is really unique. I also need a belt for it if someone can help me with that??
I think its a model 15 from the info I have seen here on the board, would like more info on it if anyone can help. On the plate on the front it has AF700811 is this the model number?? I am going to try to upload some pictures of it.. so here goes and thanks for any info on this machine.

Great find! What is the cabinet like?

You have a Model 15 with 20,000 allocated on December 18, 1940.

That number is the serial number which gives you all of the above information if you go to the Singer web site.

Nancy

ps, if you got the 'vintage sewing machine' bug, you are in trouble --as everyone on this list will tell you there is no cure!

The cabinet need lots of work and Im not sure just where to start at with it.. as you can see from the pic the wood is splitting or peeling back, I was thinking about replacing the complete top. Any suggestions on how to refurbish the top??? Thanks
