I started lettuce and spinach inside and transplanted it out....have to get that out early. Decided to hold off a little on my peppers and tomatoes because last year was so rainy and cold. I dont think I get much of a head start when they have to sit in cold weather, and have learned I really do have much less disease on my tomatoes if I wait. So those will be started the end of March...gives them 6 weeks till our last average frost date. Will be starting some flowers and peppers today though...

Planting dates based on the moon signs from my farmers calendar for March:
Above ground crops 4,5,6,7,8,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19
Root crops: 1,2,3,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,31
Seed beds: 15,16,17,18,24,25

I will be doing my tomato seeds this week...I follow these dates and never have any problems.

Started some tomatoe seeds and pablano pepper seeds on Monday. Still picking spinach and collards from last fall's crop. Collards starting to flower, so one more picking will be it.

No veggies, just planted morning glories around my front porch lattice.

Must be nice to live in the south!

If I'm lucky, I will get lettuce volunteers from last year.

All I can plant, that will overwinter, is garlic and some green onions.

At least the deer don't munch those!

I have all the seed starters and was so excited until I read don't start seeds until the end of March. Well only one more week and it is to get close to seventy today but tomorrow and the rest of the weekend is forty one. Spring in New England. Oh yeah, I still have a lot of snow on the ground.
