Ditto - my sewing room is in the basement so the carpet keeps my toes warm and the office mat catches the pins and threads - works well for me

As a Recovery Room RN, I have taken care of several patients that had to have needles surgically removed form their feet because carpet holds needles in an upright position. :(:(:(

I have hardwood in my sewing room and would never do carpet in one. When a needle falls on a hardwood floor, it lays on it's side until you pick it up and it is easily visible...unlike on carpet.

My sewing room used to be DD's bedroom so it is carpeted. But the day will come when I have laminate installed. I have it in other rooms and love it.

I have wood floors and prefer it. Easier to clean up than carpeting.

I have a wood floor in the sewing room. Makes it easier to find things I drop, and easier to clean up.

Wood.
Pins get stuck in carpet,
and will find your feet.

I have wood floors, and it is great. I use an office chair as I am disabled, it makes it easier to roll along when I am at my quilting frame, carpet would not allow that, plus it is easier to keep clean. Any hard surface flooring would be good. IMHO.

In my last sewing room, I had carpet and I liked it fine. My only problem was that I had to spend lots of time cutting threads from the roller of my vacuum cleaner. Now I have a sewing room with wood floors. I think I like the wood best; but I sometimes drop my scissors and have had them make dents in my flooring which is not good for the floor; but I suspect it is even worse for the points of my scissors. Best wishes in selecting your new flooring.
