No, irons are not universal, and White irons are considerably shorter than others.

Wow that cabinet is GONE!!! Oh well, it's not the cabinet I necessarily need, although it would be nice to find a whole cabinet and Singer irons. But I don't think the brand of irons matter, right? Experts, please let me know if I am right on this. The cabinet would be a problem because of where the hinge attaches, but the irons are universal? Thanks!!

For Quiltncowgirl:

http://www.april1930s.com

Here are three sites I have dealt with for my Featherweight information and parts. They are in the States and have provided good service to me.

And here's a blog with more links for you to visit. I hope this helps.

Miriam,
OMG! I just looked at your blog. What a project you have taken on! That house needs work and love. It will be fun reading the progress that you make in this endeavor. Looking forward to seeing the end result!

Excellent find! Enjoy!

They are a hair under 2." PM me if you would like to have them! I am pretty new at this but I don't think I would need these on most of the vintage machines I might pick up (as I do see more in my not so distant future).
Didn't you say they came with your DAVIS? I'm pretty sure they're FOR that machine...
Hi Charlee, yes they came with the machine, but don't fit it. There is a diagram on the needleplate showing the size of the needle to use, and it is the size of regular 1x15 needles.[/quote]

Nicylsf,

Just be patient with me and I will post how to use them and how they attach. I'm busy working on a quilt for my daughter's b'day. Once that is done, I can play with my attachments from my Davis and post in the shop. I have a manual that I got for free off the internet of the older Davis Vertical Feeds. I will be using that manual to figure out the attachments. Yours should work on your Davis.

I had to check it out also, and--well, Miriam wins, hands down. NO WAY is my basement that bad!! Even with our foundation issues, it doesn't come close.
I do think it will be a Cute Little House when it's done, though--it has "good bones". I love the dormers. Now I want to see a picture of the Ugly Little Cottage!! What a name for a house!

Hi Billy,
Have been a looker so far but love the Sewing Shop!
My son bought what he thought was an old Singer, because it had loads of Singer assessories with it, at a tag sale for me. It turned out to be a Superior brand made by BEBA Sewing Corp. Model # 22430. That's all I can see on the machine and I'm sorry I can't download a picture. I love the machine but it doesn't have a foot control and I'm not sure where to order one because of how little I have been able to find out. It has two plug cords, one for the motor, one for the mounted light. Any info I could get would be greatly appreciated. PS it is made in Japan.

Yes the irons do matter! If they are not for the correct cabinet then the offset will be different for the belt alignment. But if your doing what I did and just mount the treadle under a huge table that you can interchange the machines out then it will not matter.

Bily
Thanks Billy for jumping in here. I need expert opinions here. So, if I can't find a Singer cabinet with irons I like, then my plan was to get any irons and put a flat wooden top on it, cut out a big hole, put a 1"-2" frame on top around the hole with the edge routed to hold the model 66, including cutouts for the hinges, etc. Then cut out a space for the treadle belt to pass through. Would that work?
