Steady Stiching

As someone said...its "right" to do what you desire....its your quilt.
However that said....I put so much work into making my seams match, making sure the fabric is quality, color is right etc..to take a shortcut on the binding just doesnt work for me.
Besides....I love hand sewing the binding...its like the frosting on the cake.
Personal preference is key.

Not tacky at all - I finish the binding on quite a few quilts that way.

I don't think it's tacky, I think it depends on whether the backing actually matches the front!

just did it on a scrapy kind of pinwheel and looks fine. nothing about quilting is tacky....it is all in the eye of the beholder. poo on the quilt police. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

This is what older people called an envelope fold binding method. It is found in many quilt books. Beautiful quilts are created this way. Many of my customers still bind this way. It is your own personal preference.

I believe that 'treasureit' was just asking if it was tacky, not saying anyone was tacky for doing so. That said, it is your quilt, do it your way.

it is not tacky at all . but thats just my opinion.

That is how I do all my placemats; learned it in LQS two years ago. Should work for a quilt too.
