Oh yes I have done that. When my oldest son was a baby.

My husband was digging in a cupboard over the stove and knocked a glass container on the stove top and broke it. It was cheaper to buy a new stove than to replace the top. But I loved that stove not real happy with the replacement.

When I was first married, long, long, ago. I melted the pan and blew up the eggs!

Yikes. Get a timer and bring it in your sewing room. It's so easy to forget
when we are busy sewing.

Glad to hear I am not the only one who did this. I did it once (over 38 years ago) when we first moved into this house and I was new to electric ranges. Put them on, went to the back room to paint (was oil painting then) and boy! What a stink, and mess to clean up. I was so embarrassed.... Never did it again. Use a timer and take it with me if I leave the kitchen now. I guess everyone makes booboos sometimes. So sorry about your stove. I have one of those now, and I really like it. Take care and God bless.

One St. Patrick's Day when my two youngest kids were little and napping I was cooking some corned beef. It takes a long time to cook and it was a beautiful day, so I stepped out for a "minute" to check out some needy flower beds. I heard a strange noise and burst in the door to a wall of smoke and the smoke alarm blaring. I ran to gather up the two babies who were still sleeping, then grabbed the pot of corned beef and rushed out on the deck. It burned a spot on the deck, blackened my pan and stunk up my house but no other harm to anyone. I haven't tried burning eggs, and from the sound of it, I don't think I'll try that one. Live & learn.

Would it still be under a waranty? I wouldn't think that should happen.

Just read your post, suddenly thought OMG I had put eggs on to boil for a salad 45 mins ago, (then started to read this board), ran to the kitchen, thank goodness still had 1/4 inch of water in saucepan. Thank you, thank you for your post. lol.

I am at the point that when anything goes on the stove top, the timer is IMMEDIATELY set for a minimum of 10 minutes...just so I don't forget. I burned many a boiled egg before I wised up! lol! PS I'm on my third timer :)
