I have a J38 from a lady in a nursing home. she wants me to fix it up and give it to someone. Well, I got it home and the tensioner was gone. I ordered and got a new one, but don't know how to put it in. Help! ha. Thanks

I was looking at the PDF's last night. I've saved one to my zip drives, so I've been perusing. It looks like the needle goes in sideways and you have the thread the machine from right to left. That seems completely backwards to my other machines. Thanks for your help. I've made a date to look at You Tube so I can watch some of those videos. The long metal thing that runs the whole width of the machine, it turns and I think that is what runs the up an down of the thread take up..it's gunky with what looks like little balls of grease. I think it needs to be cleaned out before I dare sew on her.

I just came back from a quilting weekend in NH. While there I dropped off a Singer Model 66 treadle (bought for $5) for my DS. For fun we were trolling CL - this is one thing we found:

If I hadn't already hauled the other one from NY and it wasn't just like the one we used to have, I would have had her pick this one up. Her son helped me put the new belt on the 66 and I mentioned this one. Anyone in the NH area want a red eye in a parlor cabinet for $50?

She sews such a perfect stitch with a perfect 1/4" with her original foot! She also, sews a perfectly straight seam because her feed dogs are both the same size - so no pulling the fabric side ways like the machines with two different sized feed dogs! Anyway, to make a long story short, I have been piecing a large pumpkin wall hanging for Thanksgiving in the office! I am only using the Two Spools for my piecing! Gotta love it! My DH says, I am now chasing my machines around the house!

Yes, the 201 is in a treadle which is located in the living room. I love piecing with my Two Spools too just for the reasons that you describe. I decided to keep my husband company while he was watching tv the other night; so, I did the piecing with the 201. I prefer the foot on the Two Spools for piecing over the 201 foot since the fabrics glide under easier without getting messed. The Singer foot has the shorter one side while the Two Spools foot has both prongs the same length (hope that makes sense). I was thinking of moving my Two Spools into the living room, but I still like the look of the 201 in there more.

    Default testing for photo

testing for photo download. I did it , but now I don't remember how I did it, as I did so many things....
This is the old machine that I have started to use. I think it's a 99.... Well everything was going great as I was free motion sewing on it. Then it started to break the thread and then it broke needles. I'm I trying to do too much with the old machine???? I'm really looking for a machine that will do free motion on, as my 500 has a real hard time with it too?!?!?!
I just found your site and it's so interesting. Thanks.
