Some time ago there was a posting about making a FMQ table topping utilizing foam insulation. As I remember the foam boards were cut in pieces, wrapped in fabric then clear plastic. An opening was custom cut for the poster's sewing machine. Does anyone remember the post? I thought I had bookmarked it but can't find it now. Thanks in advance.

FYI my DD is getting ready to FMQ another Harley quilt and I thought I would make the table top cover to help her as she "wrastles" with it.

Almost but not quite Jacquie. In the post I saw they used the 3" insulation board. But I like the idea of using the 1" size board. I have a feeling that I may have to make one from my memory. Thanks.

Well, you have to use whatever thickness you need to build it up to the machine height. The one I saw used 2 different pieces to achieve that. I'm hoping to get one made for me pretty soon!

I found a lady on Youtube who made her own and then I sort of copied it. I got a 2" thick piece and a 1" piece. Hubby showed me how to use skill saw (really easy) to cut around an opening I had traced for my machine. Really light weight and so easy to assemble and disassemble when I need the guest room foe company. I love having a flat surface to sew on. i use it all the time, not just for quilting. Mine turned out to be about 4'X5. But the sheets are the size of plywood so you can make it whatever you can use. I covered mine with thick plastic (vinal) from Joanns. Otherwise, fabric catches on the rough edges. Hopes this helps.
