Vintage Sewing Machine Shop.....Come on in and sit a spell

Charlee thanks for sharing your quilts with us in the section of quilts made with vintage machines. Your work is well done! I have to laugh at your reference to "pyscho DIL"...guess none of your DILs read the QB. Anyhow, all your quilts look comfy and should be well loved. Thanks again for sharing.

Here's a Singer treadle kit. Any takers?

Sorry about your front door being ruined, but glad they didn't get in, Miriam. Do you live in a rough area of Indy?

Looks like the Pitman stick is busted in this unusually nice collection of parts. A Dog would be my choice of weapon except mine would probably welcome the intruders and want to play.

Charlee if you have quilts or anything else you made using 'vintage' machines, please post them in the shop for photos of these things! I just posted my latest finished quilt there! It was pieced completely with my Free # 5 treadle. I finally put the binding on yesterday and posted it! I'd love to see some of your work too!

I believe you're right Jon...which would also mean that the treadle base doesn't go with that Redeye...right? Didn't they stop using wooden pitman arms in about 1890-1900? The Redeye was introduced after that...

Hmmm, Good question. Not certain when Singer stopped using the wood pitman. I like how the ad says, "No scratches or dents" but doesn't mention an important part of the treadle base is broken and needs to be replaced.

Nancy, I think you are very lucky to have a 16" harp machine....I have thought about getting a bigger quilting setup, but I would just be more crowded in my sewing room, so, have decided to keep what I have. I don't do any heirloom style quilting anyway....so, really no need. My quilting is more utilitarian...it holds the quilt together. Period. :-)
