Default Lap Quilt for My Brother - TOO LATE!!! Has Been Received

A few days ago, I posted pictures of the large lap quilt I had been making for my only brother who was in the hospital. He was recovering and I thought it would be great to use while recouperating. Sadly, he took a turn for the worse and passed away on November 30, 2011, before I could complete it. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...e-t179098.html This only left my youngest sister Dianne and myself. Dianne has raised her two grandsons for the last 15 years. Darien, 15, is autistic. At 65, this is a real challenge for Dianne. We all took my brother's death so hard, but Darien kept thinking he was a sissy because he couldn't go to see Carson in the hospital before he passed. So, after a few months to grieve, I decided to finish the quilt for Darien to comfort him and on the label I told him it would be like he was receiving a hug from Uncle Carson, Nana and Aunt Donna each time he wrapped up in the quilt. He has received it and was thrilled. Here are a few pictures of him with the quilt. Dianne says he just loves it. Thanks for looking

Penny, my sister had him call me after he received it. He told me he was so happy with it and knew it had taken me a long time to make. He felt that Uncle Carson was with him when he put the quilt around him. It was heart warming. Thanks so much for understanding.

What a wonderful aunt you are to finish the quilt for Darien, even though you are still grieving at the loss of your brother! Hopefully, he will be comforted not only by the quilt but through knowing that you really love him. Thanks for sharing your story.

It was so heartwarming to receive the call from my sister this morning telling me that for the first time Darien woke up with his covers still on his bed. Usually the blanket and sheet is on the floor each morning. She told me that Darien must have held on to the quilt all night for it to still be on the bed. Thanks for reading my post

My DGS is also mild to moderate autistic and really, really loves his quilts and pillows that I've made. You have given him something very special and he will treasure it.

Precious story, and how wonderful that it was still on the bed. He really must have gotten a lot of comfort from it.

I am so glad you finished the quilt and that it is such a comfort to Darien.
