Your idea is great! It is interesting, though, to watch CL. Around here things go in spurts and starts, and for a while there were nearly no vintage sewing machines. Right now there are a lot.

It is a very nice looking machine. It looks like it is being sold by a vintage machine collector who is trying to make a little profit. I have two 301A machines with their cabinets and all of their attachments/manuals, etc. I paid $70 and $100. They weren't cleaned but not in bad condition. Great machines.

I just had a similar experience in my area with a beautiful New Royal treadle machine that was in gorgeous cabinet. They ran the ad, DH and I both liked it so I wrote to them (the only way to contact them). Heard nothing back. A few days later the ad was still there, so wrote again. NOthing.

Then, they took the ad out and replaced it with same as the ad before. So, I wrote to them again... reread that ad many, many times in case I was missing something. No reply from them. Then, two days later the ad was gone.

What is that all about? Rats, and I really did want to buy that machine. Maybe they were just testing the market. Not sure I appreciate that.

Bobbie, most likely it was a treadle with that motor added. Many people did that once they got electricity to their home.

Good for you Candace! You seem to get things in 3's! Don't you have 3 - 301's? Those little green Elna's are really cute!

Welcome back Miriam! I will read your PDA when I get a chance!

You Necchi people know anything about this machine? I was thinking about looking at it?

HEAVY is what first comes to my mind. You can treadle them in a Singer cabinet, but you may have to make modifications to the hinge pins. Some folks love to use them for FMQ and prefer the Necchi over a Singer.
This is a Necchi VN that is a zigzag machine and straight stitch only.

A quote taken from a site that folks review their likes and dislikes on machines.
" The easy-to-spot differences between this model (BU) and its successor, the BU Nova, are the VN (for Vittorio Necchi) logo on the machine bed, and the plain chrome face of the tension assembly"

Looks very similar to a posting by another member today. http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...f-t172989.html

Hard to know the model # with some of the pics these folks take!!

Honestly, I'd prefer the Super Nova Monica has. But, they are great machines, for sure!
