I had a bunch of apples on hand last year, so I made a Waldorf salad and took half of it to my son and DIL's. She'd never had or seen Waldorf salad before, and it has become one of her favorites.

Chopped unpeeled apples (bite sized; I use a combo of green and red apples at Christmas time)
chopped celery (bite sized)
Raisins (I prefer golden raisins)
chopped (chunky) walnuts (or pecans or almonds)

Dressing: about 3/4 cup mayo or salad dressing and 2 TBS sugar. Stir together and then pour over salad mixture and toss to coat.

Best if made ahead and chilled a few hours before serving. Keeps well in refrig. for several days.

what a great idea. I will be trying yogart the next time I make either of these.
