If you have the red/white dot fabric, I think it would make the black/white pop if you could incorporate it between the gray and the black/white in some way. I'd love to see your finished product. Have fun.

I think the grey is too light. Your strips look great though.

It would be interesting to see the white with red dot fabric - I like your black and white and the way they are laid out. I think they need something different than the gray though.

I love the gray background and was thinking it would look neat if you put a thin red trim around the black and white pieces to tie into the red you would like put in the border. Love this quilt by the way!!!

i think this looks great and would do a black border if you want it to be subtle . If you want it to be more exciting put a black and red border on it.

What would it look like if you put the black and white strips on a solid or solid looking background - like red, or teal, or lime - some fairly intense color ? Then bind it in black.

If you use the gray, I would not add any other color to it. Just bind it with black. It's sort of intriguing with the gray background - but it sort of looks like the strips are on a design wall and not 'for keeps' on the light gray.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I am posting another photo with red as background, white dot lines as another background and the red around the black/white sections (which I quite like). I didn't have enough of the red/white dot to make an impression. I agree it would be great with another bright color as background but I want to keep it red/white/black to keep with my show theme.

I might have to take a row or two of my strips into the LQS tomorrow and audition some fabrics as background.

While the red or any bright would look great, I like the modern look of the black and white on grey and agree the red edging adds a lot of interest.

i think it would depend on the look you are trying to accomplish. as pictured, the quilt is subtle... with the red, it would be dramatic.

I like the original gray background with just a hint of the red. The red background is way to stark. Love your curved keyboard pieces, can't wait to see how you finish!!
