If You Have Difficulty Connecting Your Binding
#11
Jenny Doan has a wonderful tute called the ultimate binding tutorial. It makes finishing your binding very simple and it looks better than tucking the two ends together, for me anyway. I can never make it look good.

I cheat on my bindings too - I saw a tutorial (can't remember who it was from, though) and they use a strip of steam 'n seam so I've started doing that and it works out well. So you cut one side to a slant, fold the cut edge down 1/4" and press the steam & seam down to that. Then fold it back in half, peel off the steam & seam paper and get it situated, wrapped over the other side of the binding. Press, flip it open, topstitch it (right through the steam & seam), trim excess fabric, fold it all back down and it always fits perfectly. The topstitching is visible but only barely, and since I machine-bind my quilts anyway I'm not worried about stitches showing in my binding. The binding stitches are a "feature", LOL.
