I do a cheese strata similar to this french toast recipe and the remains (if there are any) freeze beautifully. Just zap it into the microwave and enjoy the second round.

I have made this and added a tsp of Kaluah to the milk and used thick sliced bread.

I also add a few chopped nuts to the syrup that goes in the pan before the bread. Then when you cut it after baking, invert the pieces onto a plate...looks great! I used Pepperidge Farm Swirl Bread. The six pieces make a perfect layer in a 9" x 13" pan.

Holey moley that sounds good! I think I'm going to have to surprise DH with a French Toast breakfast this weekend.

I made this a couple weeks ago. Cut the recipe in half for just DH and I and put some sliced apple underneath the bread. It was great, and the leftovers heated up in the microwave very nicely. I'll probably make the full batch for family who will be visiting for Christmas. It won't be our Christmas breakfast, but later in the week.
