    Ciao!

I believe that my original needle was a 12x1, but you can use some DBx1 needles

K,.. if you -can't bring the bobbin thread up, the timing may be wrong, but before that, I would make sure that the needle is set right, and that it's in the right way around. Groove to the front.

Cathy's information spread through this thread will help you pick and set the needle correctly:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...ml#post5986789 page 2 has some really great stuff on it too.

If that still doesn't work, then you would need to check the timing. These machines time like any other machine ( the principal, maybe not the method), so try this link, on my own blog for details on checking timing:
    http://www.archaicarcane.com/perfect-timing/

I agree with what others have said, your machine is gorgeous!

thank you all, and MERRY CHRISTMAS, I find just now your posts as gifts.
there was something strange in the internet, or computer, for what I couldn't see them before. here is night, the first of winter, why the first, only now, I think?

in the next days I'm coming read attemptly all these pages.
truely, I 'know' the way of putting on the needle in a fiddlebase, I'm able to repeat all the text of the singer 12 instruction manual as at school... but I have a very little practical experience, less than two years, so I feel as a child. interesting, no?

in italian we say 'bisogna farci la mano' you need make your hand, so I think that with your suggestions and a bit of time for ' growing that in my own hand', the little dietrich will work in the just moment, I'm sure.
for now she is in Rome, I am in Sicily, but we two are going to meet soon...
no more space for writing? thank you.. happy new year!

Never let a sewing machine know you are in a hurry.
    is very very true

just an year is gone! it is again Christmas time! Marlene Dietrich, is in Palermo, now, my friend brought it from Rome, so I'm going to meet her , because I go there for my mom.
I wonder if , after a year, something will peep out in my mind after reading posts, and working with other machines, and don't know what, and this needle goes in right place etc. if she would sew, I will write immediately. a presto, but before Christmas!

Viavillecinque - Are you saying that your machine still does not sew?

Have you reassembled it yet? (you can email me if you'd rather go over this offline)

well. Christmas is gone... now, Happy New Year!!!!

news about my vesta dietrich. adjusting tensions and needle she can sew, now, backwards, if I move the wheel backward.
if I run the wheel in the normal way, no feed ai all-

so, I think I must turn the vertical cam 180 degrees, as well described by Tammy. but...... how must I do?

I unscrewed the two screws, but nothing can turn, for now…
I wonder: who assembled it wrong? the lasi machine of 31th december , a whimsy hard one?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YOU!!!!!!
