What a cool machine! It's amazing to have such an old machine but to add to that the uniqueness of the foot pedals and that amazing box and all those hinges (my favorite thing about it btw)... you have such a treasure. Perhaps my great great grandmother used something like this when she made my crazy quilt from that era.

That is not anyone's fault. SteveH recorded in .mp4 format and Firefox browser just does not play those.

You can use a different Internet browser or what SteveH suggested and save them and then watch them with a different video program that likes .mp4 files.

Yeah, I do not use Firefox for that and several other reasons (I use Chrome) so I tend to forget that limitation is STILL in place...

I will convert them to AVI and repost links for the Firefox users.

As a side note: I use VLC video player (free app) to view locally

Steve,
such a wonderful old machine. It isn't very often I "meet" someone who is passionate about knowing the family history and wanting to keep these stories with the machine. I love it! I am a huge genealogy nut and I also collect many old/vintage items. I get some really strange reactions when I ask for the stories behind the item.
More than anything I love that you want to bring these machines back to their former glory AND you want to retain the original parts. You obviously have the talent to do that and I am grateful you have the desire to go along with it!
Thanks for always taking the time to share your journeys with us. It is so appreciated!

Hey, I wasn't seeking to "blame" anyone -- just disappointed I couldn't get the video to play! I need to go back to it and try it again -- I'll get my computer genious to help with it! Gosh! It's late and it's cold, so I need to go home! I'll try it again!

Thanks, I get the same surprised looks when I ask if I can have any info on the previous owner for my records.

Because every machine in my collection is 1901 and earlier, I feel that I am more of a "caretaker" rather than an "owner" so I feel a sense of responsibility to preserve what I can for the future.

I do not think of what I do and restoring or refinishing. I call what I do "de-neglecting" them. I try to only remove the neglect that they have accumulated over the decades...

Jeanette

it never came across as "blame" on my end. I just want to share it with as many folks as I can.
