Thank you for all the nice comments and the advice about how to mail, Gerbie. The project was a labor of love but also gave me the opportunity to try new things. I have always wanted to make a crazy quilt with (hand) embroidery and embellishments, so this was a baby step in that direction and I might pull out my 40+ year old dotted swiss wedding dress and start cutting it up!

I emailed my DIL and asked what she'd like on the label and she suggested baby's name, dates of birth and baptism, and made from mother's wedding dress. I added "made by Grandma Marcia, March 2015." On a second smaller label I added son's & DIL's names and date of their marriage. I would have liked to be more poetic with the label, but my Janome 6600 doesn't have a lot of text embroidery options and labels were getting pretty large. I'm thinking of getting an embroidery machine just for labels but haven't researched yet. Maybe some day.

Beautiful and such a wonderful idea - great use for something that would only be stashed away for decades.

Very pretty and I love the extra stitching everywhere. You gave me some good ideas for the crazy quilt that I am just starting to embroider. Thank You!

Absolutely love it! I have been wanting to make a quilt out of my daughters First Communion dress. You have inspired me.
