Some times those bobbins get worn, warped or weird. Check to see if the bobbin is ok. You can also look inside the machine to see if you see any cracked, broken or melted gears.

Make sure the needle is seated correctly and in the right direction. IIRC (it's been a while since I messed with mine) the needle is threaded from front to back. The long groove in the needle should face the front. I have a 600 series T&S. There are at least a few differences between mine and yours. My understanding is the 700 series uses the white tophat cams along with the black cams and can stitch patterns that require forward and reverse feeding of the fabric. Mine uses only the black cams and uses 2 pc plastic bobbins with the white markings. I'm not sure if your bobbins are the same. I learned the hard way that the bobbins need to be screwed together tight. Any gap can mess with how the thread feeds.
If all that seems fine, it's possible you have a timing issue but check the easy stuff first.

Shapleigh was a famous hardware store chain based in St Louis and this rotary sewing machine was made by National for them. There's a Yahoo National group which might have some dating info based on SN#:

OK, This is off-topic a smidge.
Found a vintage (1930/1940s era) quilt today with the churn-dash pattern. It is tied. It is also fairly clean but does have an issue. Some of the churn blocks the fabric is coming unsewed and in some instances missing altogether. I don't mind that as it is character. I do want to preserve the remaining fabric as much as possible. Does anyone out there have any ideas? I have one but it is perhaps radical and time consuming so am waiting for others to chime in.

This is definitely off-topic but is it a vintage quilt.

does anyone know where I might start looking for a wrap-around hand crank attachment "81712" for a 1889 singer 127 Vs2? I know they are very rare and I have looked on e-bay with no results. Any sites you know of where I might get lucky? Linda

I was a little amused by the seller's statement that the machine "has not been used." Perhaps omitted was "in a number of years" or "much" - either of which I could believe. I have no idea about the value of this machine, and this is not meant to be an endorsement in any sense.

That's one nice cabinet and I like how it opens up when in use. I'm interpreting "has not been used" as they have never used it and have no idea if it works.

There are no 127 Vs2s. If you've been looking with that as a search term it will hinder you. The VS2 became the 27. The 127 is a later model again which has a motor/hand crank boss. I doubt that a HC for a 127 would fit a VS2.
