Sewgranny1, your quilt is lovely. What color is the darkest color in the acqua/turquoise section? I'm needing a darker color like that to go with mine. Thanks for sharing! Also, any ideas on how you will have yours quilted? I will probably do my own quilting on my DSM. My FMQ isn't good enough. Thought about echo quilting long curvy lines on the angle of the color waves but I am open to suggestions from anyone.
It might be perfect as the border or backing.

I think that just might be what I need ... I looked it up. It is "out of stock" on line BUT they have 4 yards in stock at the nearest JoAnn Fabrics to me (about 30 mins away). Thank you for sharing. Now I only need 2 or 3 more in blue family. Still waiting on the book I ordered.

Well, here we go again. I now have 12 fabrics in the blue/turquoise families. I added 3, two of them darker. Opinions please. Still waiting on my book w/the pattern to arrive.

The tan & blue fabric still looks odd, but looking closely at the previous pic I posted of the bargello with blues & beiges, there is an odd print that looks a little off color too.

Also, the beige fabric the blues are laying on I thought I would use for the back. Quilt the top with a clear thread and put a variegated beige thread in the bobbin to quilt the back.

Ok, I think I like this combo. However, I will need to find 1 more blue/turquoise fabric (ugh) w/this layout.

Your thread on Bargellos has got my mind racing. I've got the book and haven't read it yet. But I will now, maybe I will get motivated.

Sharon, I like this order of fabric also. I was afraid you had taken the tan and blue one out, and I was relieved to see it with the tans. I meant to tell you earlier that several patterns say to have one fabric that is different than expected, calling it a zinger. That fabric could be a zinger and look quite good with the blues...or where it is with the tans.

I am glad you read my hint for selecting Bargello fabric in the thread I posted yesterday (or was it the day before?) I was so pleased to read about this idea and I actually thought it might help you. I have been concentrating on cutting out fabric so I just forgot that I meant to send this suggestion your way.

I hope your book arrives soon....when it does, if you read the instruction pages, she talked about a zinger fabric. I have two Bargellos where I put in a fabric that didn't really belong there. In each case, there was a larger design of white, and everything I read said not to use large prints and to avoid fabric with white in it. Let me see if I can find pictures of each....

I sure wish I had read the hint about fabric selection before I made these. I struggled over my fabric selection....though I was happy with my results, this hint could have saved me a lot of trouble. (Anyone reading this and wondering what hint...go to the thread I started yesterday about it.... )

Here are the final fabrics! Selecting 20 different fabrics wasn't easy but I have learned a lot. I shopped at 8 different stores, had a lot of eyes on my choices (one a "professional" quilter), and took my time mulling over my options before committing. Believe it or not, I only purchased 5 other fabrics that I decided not to use in this quilt! Thank you for looking.

12 blue/turquoise fabrics for the ocean and 8 fabrics for the sand.

They look good to me. It feels good to have that decision made, doesn't it? I hope your book arrived with the pattern in it.

Yes, my book finally arrived yesterday. I was out shopping for a few final fabrics when my DH called to tell me the book had arrived in the mail. Read through the front half of the book twice and can't wait to get started. Thank you for looking.
