    For the squares between the stars I used designs that I digitized to fit exactly in the squares, then I quilted them in the hoop. For the stars themselves, I used a ruler to quilt straight lines. For the rest and the borders I did semi-free motion. I used the free motion foot, but I drew a rough sketch to be sure I was laying down thread where I wanted & not veering too far off track. I think the FM was the easiest and the hoop work the hardest, making sure the hoop was in exactly the right place.
