If you do a search on the board for the official product name "ScanNCut", you can find several discussions. I would do an additional search on "Scan and Cut", not the official spelling, but often used.
In general, the computerized machines, like the ScanNCut, which cut a single layer of fabric and are wonderful for applique. Die cutting machines, the GO for instance, cut many layers at once and are better at pieced blocks.

The brother website has a lot of videos on the quilting. I suggest maybe join the scanncut quilting forum on facebook. I know quite a few have cut block quilt using it. I haven't done it yet so can't comment on the wastage. I just have seen on the few forums that I am on a few people cut pieced quilts. Learning to cut fabric on it is a process, we did it at a workshop without the fusible and it really was an eye opener of how to be successful at it. I think if I had tried on my own I might have become frustrated. I am looking forward to a new class on it at road2ca quilt show in 2 weeks
