Thanks all!
I will help her adjust her scant 1/4" seams, and then we will square everything up when the blocks are complete. Will omit the sashing and play with the layout.
I may have her investigate an Accucut system.

She could go an entirely different direction with this pattern by setting the blocks on point and "floating" them with a coordinating or contrasting fabric. I have just started working with a mixed collection of almost-the-same-size blocks. By setting them like this, I can adjust the size of the outer triangles to come up with a consistent size, in this case 18", and I'm hoping nobody will be likely to notice that the original blocks are not precisely the same.

Someone must have stolen the rest of the fabrics; it does happen. Just sorry that she is having a hard time.

Yes this! I would not cut anything off unless it is way too big but even 1/2 inch off can be worked in and quilted out. I have put together many donation blocks of all kinds of sizes. Just stretch and make it work. At the end it will all quilt out.
