Re Amazon - like new .........you know it's not "brand new"....make sure you have a warranty....it may be refurbished by mfgr....or a resale by third party....good luck with purchase. I always buy books from the "used" price list....

Is this a Juki model that would work for quilting and garment construction? I do both.

I did a "TL2000qi" vs "TL2010qi" and, other than the price, I couldn't see any difference in them. Can anyone shed light on that?

Geri B, the listing describes the item "Sold by Amazon" and "New," not "Like New" or used or refurbished. I don't think they can label it as new if it isn't? Dc989, this one does straight stitch only (not even zigzag), and doesn't have the piece that pulls away from the needle area to make it easy to sew a cuff or pant leg (why can't I remember what that's called?!?!!?). Sparky's mom, I think the biggest difference is that the 2000 doesn't have the speed moderator feature that the 2010 has. The 2010 also has a couple more presser feet than the 2000. I would like to have the speed moderator and the 1/4" foot, but the price on the 2010 is so much higher than $574 that I decided to just buy the 1/4" foot separately and learn to "drive" the thing at 5 mph rather than at 1500 stitches per minute!

Be careful and make sure it is new. Otherwise add the difference and buy a new one. Its like buying a used car... you don't know what you're getting until you have it and then its too late! I paid $745 for mine a year and a half ago and its the 2010Q. Check with Donna at Ken's Sewing Supply. They have excellent discounts and no tax or shipping. 1-877-536-7739. And they have them in stock.
(Forgot to add, I buy my extra bobbins on ebay.)

Thanks, JustJan. I did check the prices at Kens Sewing but they are a couple of hundred $ more, even for a refurbished machine. And this one is clearly and unambiguously labeled as "new." Thanks for the bobbin tip -- would've been a bit leery of buying them on eBay if not for you and a couple other posters!

Did you actually call them or just look at their online prices? If you didn't call them you should call and ask for Donna and tell her your circumstances. She will work with you and save you a lot over their advertised prices. You can tell her I recommended them. I sent another board member to her and she got a really good deal too, plus I have purchased 3 big ticket items through them. Good Luck.

I only checked them online. Thanks for your push -- I will call Donna and see what they say. (Should I tell her "JustJan" sent me?) Thanks so much for your help -- I really appreciate it.

-- just called. Unfortunately they can't meet that price or come close enough to it. I really would like to patronize them. They are a terrific company and I will be buying my presser feet and other accessories from them whenever possible.
