Stitchmaster Sewing Machine Delux Japan
Hello,
I just was gifted a Stitchmaster and it needs a belt. New at this vintage machine forum and would appreciate some directions on how to measure for the belt and a source as well as how do I find the age. I do have the serial number.
108582
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated
Thank you.

Welcome to QB. Unfortunately, the serial number or even the name doesn't help identify Japanese machines.
As for measuring for belt replacement -

The way to measure. can be found at https://zoundsdesigns.com/2012/02/10...ration-part-6/ and https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bl...-belts-sizing/ Also it can be calculated by measuring the diameter of the "outside" pulleys and the length from the center to center of the pulleys as indicated at https://leatherworker.net/forum/topi...comment=273094 and https://leatherworker.net/forum/topi...comment=571797 There is a calculator that figures it for you at http://www.calculatoredge.com/mech/vbelt%20length.htm
We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.
I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of quilt block ID?

As for the age, that is difficult to pinpoint, unless someone has kept original paperwork with the machine. There are some that can look at the features and give an approximate age.
