" wonder how many "imperfections Michaelangelo pointed out to his colleagues when they came to see how his "David" or the Mona Lisa was coming along..."

Yeah...especially when he saw Leonardo's name on the Mona Lisa instead of his! Sorry...it's such a cute mistake and I just couldn't resist.

And I suppose that's what "tolerance" is all about. Now, I'm off to finish another imperfect quilt. Thank you for everyone's comments on this topic.

I like this conversation. Although I strive to do my best, I seem to say "oh well" a lot. It makes me happy to quilt this way.

I keep trying but don't lose any sleep over it. My quilts might have a perfect part or two but none of the. Have ever been perfect. The best compliment I got was from my grandson - he was about 14 and I gave him the sampler quilt I machine pieced and hand quilted. He said "grandma, you made this? It looks boughten" which I took as a compliment and loved that he made up the word. And the quilt is far from perfect.

I've learned that when I'm quilting things may not end up exactly as I would like them to be, but I try my best and my quilts still make me proud. And I love that with each quilt I make I can see myself getting better.

I was making a 6.5" block and it was suppose to have a white square in the middle from snowballing the quarters. I just could not get it right. So I appliqued a square on top and cut away all the wonky stuff from the back. Done!!

I think our goal may be perfection, because that is indeed a worthy goal (unattainable, but worthy). However reality tells us that doing our best is also a worthy goal, and better yet, it is an attainable goal.

My favorite expression is "if a man on a galloping horse can't see it then I don't have to rip it out". My quilts will never be perfect but they are full of love.
