I saw a picture posted on another forum just recently of a quilt made entirely of selvages and it was very pretty. I haven't been saving them, and have no interest in them myself, but will keep them until I have a box to send to someone.

Hooray. I am so excited about this whole selvage thing. I can't wait to get enough to do this funky lamp project. In the past, I have used them to make tropical bird toys with. I have a Goffin Cockatoo and an African Grey and to keep them busy I take my selvage pieces and use a crochet needle to pull them through small wiffle balls. I thread about 40+ and them I gather them up 2 at a time and tie knots. They turn into a giant puffball of scrap balls that they birds play with, preen, chew on and swing from. I never thought to use them as pieces for quilting before.

Isn't there a minimum width that is needed for these? 1"?
Or can you use really skinny pieces?

I use selvages to make gifts for a quilting friend. I have made many little quilts, potholders, pincushions, etc. Just wove an Easter basket with them.I never looked at them before. Now I read them. Perhaps we need a page in the gallery!

I started saving them about 2 months ago after seeing some of the projects posted here.
