Meet inside of a store, not a parking lot, the buyer could have a friend grab the machine jump in their car and take off. The buyer would probably want a demo so try to use a Starbucks, they have plugs and are usually busy. Ask your local sew and vac store if you can use their store as a meeting place, try the library too. If there is a craft fair coming up maybe you know someone who would let you use their booth as a meeting place.

I have sold many things on Craig's List with no problems. Very quickly too.

Many police departments are letting people meet in their parking lots (and even lobbies) to make their deals.
You might check with them if you sell it on Craigslist.

Craigslist saves you from having to pack and ship - BUT - do not let them into your house. I have sold many larger items on it. In fact, I currently have a chest freezer and 2 dressers I'm selling. Meet them on the porch or in your garage. While most of the people buying on craigslist are good people, the bad ones use it to check out your house. If you feel at all uneasy, politely ask them what area they are coming from and offer to meet them at a Starbucks or donut shop on the route. An honest person has no objection to meeting you in a open, busy location.
