What? Don't tell me the Amish use sewing machines made in China!!! Was it at least treadle powered?

Beautiful machine. I would have bought it too even if it ends up just being out for display. Good luck with finding info about it.

I tried to look it up and from what I found they've been around since 1919 and they are still making them and they still look the same. It is a beauty though and from the looks of the case your's is an old one. I found a picture of a brand new treadle one.

I found references to the "New Butterfly" and to the JA2-1 and JA2-2 sewing machines. I also found some machines with pretty weird names - BEEBUTTERFLY, SUPERFLY, etc. I know these are Singer 15 clones, not sure of the quality of the machine, but it is sturdy (weighs a ton) and pretty and so I will clean it up and see if it works. But I have several other machines to work on first...

Just make sure if it's coming from China now that it's not lead making it so heavy. JUST KIDDING, lead would be too soft.

They are both gorgeous!!! The singer has a faceplate with the same pattern as one of my featherweights. Sheila
