Quilts for Rosie - Weekly Paper Pieced Sampler Quilt Along
#192
I got my book today and have to say "Wow!" I wasn't able to look through the book before buying, but have no regrets. The blocks will be lots of fun...at least the 10" ones! The 4" may be a little bit of a struggle. I am using batiks for sure...I work in a quilt shop and while there today found a couple I really like. I work again Monday...my plan is to buy a couple of my fabrics then so I can get my first two blocks done on time and the rest I will look for on a shop hop mid-Sept. I'll post pictures of the fabrics early next week.

I *should* have the first one done on time unless something major happens around here (with 3 kids you never know!). I got my papers copied for the 1st four blocks this morning and will cut out this afternoon. Work and fabric shopping Monday and then as of right now I will have sewing time every other day next week...YAY!

My friend, Patti, who is joining me in this quilting adventure, came over today to get some instruction in how to paper piece. I think we are going to meet on Thursdays to work together. I am so looking forward to this! I am going totally scrappy with a cream tone on tone being the stable fabric.

The 4" blocks are in a different order than the 10" blocks. So I suppose we need to follow the list given in the first post? It is the same as the Contents list for 10" blocks. I can't find a Contents list for 4" blocks. Also, the cutting instructions for Mother's Favorite Star tells us to cut one 2"x7" strip from the dark fabric. Then to cut this strip into four 2" squares. Any other strange and wonderful anomalies found so far? I love the spiral binding!

The instructions are very easy if you don't overlook anything. I have a wandering eye so have been using a ruler to ensure I don't miss anything & cut everything as it says.
I've been cutting out the fabric for the blocks so they are ready to sew when I am. So far I've cut out fabric for the blocks up to the Army Star (both 10" & 4") block. I thought I'd be farther along with the cutting but had some other things I had to get done. I plan on getting the rest of the blocks cut & into its plastic page with its paper templates by the end of the week so I can get started sewing Mother's Favorite Star.
I'm also considering using QAYG for these blocks, but haven't decided on the sashing yet.
