I bought 2 bolts at an estate sale. I know, not what you wanted to hear since I got them for $10.00 each. One had a stain that had run down the bolt from the top. I have also bought with good discount coupon from JAF.

I also buy my musling by the bold, as I buy the 90 inches wide Legacy Studio , so I have to buy with coupon. I have bought a couple of bolts but not often . Never gotten a price break, that is why I wait to use coupons, just like I buy the bolt for batting with coupon .

I purchase yardage of black or white when I have a 60% coupon or a good sale on Kona black or white cotton. Then when I cut that yardage I keep all the leftover pieces (including scraps) in a marked baggie so I can use them in another project. In the pass I was working on a quilt with a black background and somehow I ended up with blocks from different dye lots. Want to avoid that happening in the future.

I bought a full bolt of white on white when I was making a "dear Jane". I felt quite "wicked" taking home a whole bolt. I don't feel so wicked now, haven't finished the bolt or Jane for that matter. I am 3/4 done and need to step it up!

I purchased several bolts when an online shop closed. That was about ten years ago and I've been completely happy that I spent the money. The bolts were selling for $15 and with the exception of one pale lavender bolt I've used the fabric for so many projects. Buying bolts of colors that you use almost all the time makes good economic sense to me. Storage of bolts of fabric does present a rather tough problem, but as quilters we always manage to figure something out. Having a bolt of white and a bolt of black has served me well and I would recommend the purchase if possible. The lavender bolt is going to become the backing on something some day and then I'll be happy I have it.
