does using a sewing machine render it inoperable? (only if it is plastic IMHO) SERIOUSLY.

The last one has a vintage sewing cabinet but doubt that the machine is vintage.

I get that. People send out really stupid emails. The email asks, "Is the 'item' is still available?" Then they want your email address so they can steal your email and send out spam. I don't answer those emails at all. I have on my ad: "Ad here = Item here" If they want me to answer they need to send an 'original' email or I don't answer. I don't answer emails where they want my email address. Some are pretty blatant. But those people are out there.

I sell on CL too. Miriam is right. I often get emails that just say, "Is item still available?" I answered one once and I am still getting Spam from it. I had to put this in my ad because the scams and spam got so bad. "Don't ask if it is still available or for me to join something to get your number to call you. You will be treated as SPAM and will be deleted. If you see the ad it is available." Pretty much the same thing. CL ads bring out the worst in some people. If they ask, I just delete them now. If they are a serious buyer, I would hope that they would read the entire ad.

That all said I sold a machine to a lady that said she emailed me 3 times before I didn't delete her email. She kept asking if it was still there. She finally got an original email to me. I look for more than the same title in the email and more content in the email than 'Do you still have it?' 'Is it available?' 'Send me your email address' Yup it takes all kinds.

My experience has been that half of the people I contact/buy from on Craiglist DO NOT delete adds once the item is sold. Once in a while a seller will put in the add "if still here, it's available" , but that is very few and far between.

They should have the sense to word an ad so I know it is not some spammer.
