Billi, the secret for the flying geese is that you don't actually sew on the line you have drawn. Sew slightly inside the line (sew it on the side that you are flipping to). You have to allow for the fold the flip makes. Deb Tucker makes a ruler for flying geese that uses a cut-down method.

Good Morning Boomers! Finally heading home from vacation today! Had fun with the grand kids...love seeing everybody
...just no place like home. DH and I agreed to spend some quality time together.....and if I was an avid fan of golf, that would have worked well!
......can't wait to get back to my sewing machine and making blocks.
I did happen onto a great quilt shop and sale! Found some great fabric for my stash....great prices. Smiling now!
love all the blocks so far......more from Bee on the way!

Have you ever tried to paper piece the geese? There's lots of templates available and this looks like a pretty good link with detailed instructions. http://forestquilting.com/resources/...ing_how_to.pdf

Love that block Kass, thank you so much!! I have done that method of flying geese and it works great. There is a chart that you can download for the different sizes that makes it fairly easy instead of doing all the math. I have used this method when I have to make lots of them, like borders on a quilt.
