If I feel a cold coming on rest is the best thing for me, I lie on the couch or in bed with soft pillows and a quilt and fall asleep. If I do get a cold and really feel bad those little red Sudafed work best for me. I don't take them every 4 hours just a dose and then to bed or couch. Hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying that I don't usually get colds probably because I'm retired and don't spend most of my day in a crowded workplace - I worked at a college and my 'office area' was in an open space and everyone seemed to pass or stop by my office.

Steam inhalation, vitamin C and sleeping with high pillows so that congestion does not settle on chest. Licorice as an expectorant and horse radish and Irish moss for the throat.

Lots of fluids, lots of naps, a comfy sofa or recliner and a pile of quilting magazines should do it.

Heated Vernors gingerale (and only Vernors) with a shot of whiskey, a squirt of lemon juice and dash of nutmeg on top, a bowl of Mrs. Grass's Chicken Noodle soup. We, also, steam our chest, smear Quiachol on top and cover with a piece of flannel and top with a white T-shirt. Works wonders. Our family has used this for years. The only problem is I haven't been able to locate Quiachol for many years so had to
swith to Vick's salve. Does anyone know of a pharmacy that still compounds Quiachol???

I am starting to drink vinegar water. It changes the ph balance in your throat and those bugs cannot survive.
