If nothing else, sell them on here. It looks like many of our members have many things to do with them. Personally I have mine on the spool rack on my treadle machine.

When I was a kid 100 yrs ago, we painted them and made necklaces with colorful wooden beads between the spools.

If you have the big ones, I use them to hold candles! I wrap homespun scraps around the smaller ones and display in an antique canning jar.....

If you could get a hold of a larger fruit jar, you could put them inside and make a light out of it. You can buy the light kits at Hobby Lobby or Michaels or on line.

If anyone is wanting to sell some of them, I am looking for more to complete some gifts I have started.

I saw or read where they were using spools for knobs. I plan to do the same. I'm thinking I will get dh to slice them into, and drill a whole to attach with nut and bolt, or use them whole and add a cut button on the ends. Would still have to use nut and bolt to attach. My dresser has no handles just finger groves and the drawers often go too far back when drawers are closed making them very hard to open. I think this will be a good fix. I too have some in canning jars sitting in my sewing room.

I used to string as thick a cord as would fit through 5-9 spools and knot the ends to make a snake the cats would play with. Then the teething babies discovered them, so they got their own freshly made, clean snakes. They were covered with a tube of fabric and tied at each joint with a length of yarn or string.

If anybody has spools that they don't want send them my way,I will take them off your hands. I have my wooden ones in big glass flower vases. I have a few empty plastic ones that I'm going to put the fabric on and hang as a garland.
