Shout "Color Catcher" laundry sheets for Batiks ? ? ? ?

Directions on the Retayne bottle says to use HOT water, when prewashing. What temp of water did you use? I'm going to be making a batik quilt (10 purples, 10 greens and a lite mauve background) and the directions that came along with the kit, says to NOT prewash the fabrics and to use SHOUT color catchers in the wash when the quilt is finished. I've ALWAYS used RETAYNE to prewash quilt fabric, so this is a new ballgame for me. Glad I found this thread.

I love those color catchers. I send them in the package with the quilt. And instruct the recipient to use them when washing the quilt. Especially if there is reds or blacks in the quilt.
I also use them when washing my clothes so the color does not fade out.

I have used Blue Dawn when dying fabrics, to stop them from bleeding. It did work. But I prefer the 5-6 color catchers. The way I see it, an entire box of color catchers is cheaper than having to remake a quilt. So I keep using them till they are off white.
