My first quilt and start of my second
#51
Well I have sure learned a lot doing this quilt .
Have learned how to run a sewing machine and to keep my cutting straight.
I,t was a lot of cutting as i was cutting with scissors. So I have got a roller cutter now and have learned the importance of ironing and ironing the seams the right way.
my next try is going to be these chains .
I tryed to do triangle but not at that level of skill yet they where all over the place.
But i,m having fun and thats the main thing
Have a good day every one.

Too funny! I started quilting just a few months ago and have joked with my Mom that I needed to find a local QA chapter! I am truly addicted! You know it's bad when you get excited about converting your old ironing board into a pressing board and the home made thread stand your hubby made for you out of a block of wood and a coat hanger! Not to mention all the fabric you have to buy!
Does not take much.
But your saying making your ironing board into a pressing board what is the difference ? I,m just using a ironing board .
And yes i,m thinking of making some thing to hold all my thread also. My wife has given up fighting to take my spare sewing room back . And is not saying any thing about all the thread laying on the floor so I guess I win haha.
Got to win one every now and then .
Thanks for the positive comments
Every one have a good day.

I learned this the hard way. Invest in the largest cutting mat you have room for and can afford. I bought a smaller one to start with and quickly realized a larger cutting surface would make things even easier. A 24x6" quilting ruler is a good place to start for rulers. No regrets about that purchase at all. I bought a Fiskars brand rotary cutter and it's worked out well. I don't know enough to make any good recommendations for a rotary cutter though.

You did that first quilt with scissors? I'm impressed! Like one of the other posters said, to go along with your new rotary cutter, buy the biggest cutting board you can find and afford. Mine's 40" x 40" and fits my dining table well. Can't wait to see your links quilt - the blocks look perfectly sewn.
