I saw this one at the Phoenix Quilt Show in January... this is one SWEET STEAM iron.. It has it's own BOILER. Made in USA. All parts are replaceable! They were selling for $199.99 US. Sure hope the link works ! If not - just Google Eurosteam My friends friend bought 2 of them..... e-GADS!! I am not affiliated with this company !

Same here. They have almost doubled in price in Australia in the last 12 or 18 months (I blame Jenny Doan ) since I bought my first one. When I saw one recently at the old price I grabbed it to put away as a spare.

I have had 2 Rowenta's--problems with both--would not purchase again. I had a Black & Decker and loved it until it stopped working. Now, I have several small irons but I have a Reliable and love it--no leakage issues. It is heavier though. I would like the newest one that has an auto steam when you grasp the handle.

NOT a new one that shuts itself off...that is so frustrating to me! I want to be able to hop back and forth between my machine and my iron when I'm piecing..and to walk away 5 minutes and come back to a cold iron just sends me through the roof! I am an adult..I am capable of shutting off my own darned iron...and....as long as I'm on this little rant....I HATE that stupid color strip on the side that will tell me when it's safe to put it away!!! Are we a nation of idiots? Used to be..we used our judgement! Now we have irons that "think" for us, and we must look at the stupid color strips to judge when it's cool enough to put away...what a world!

I've purchased several, cheapy irons and Wally World and they've lasted, at best, 3-4 months. So, I came across an older Rowenta iron at Goodwill for $5 and snapped it up. It's still going strong after 2 years. It's heavier and does shut off, but heats right back up when I rock it. It has a wonderful, narrow point and it gets very hot. The only downfall for me is that it uses a lot of electricity.
If anyone is looking for a dry iron, I'd check for an older, used one...something from the 50s, or 60s, when they were more popular. Also, they were made so much better then and will probably last you a lifetime.

Another suggestion for those looking for a dry iron is to pick up one that was made to go with a sewing machine, s/a a featherweight. I found one for about $35 on ebay. It's flat, no holes, no steam, small and compact.
