What is your city known for?

Puyallup , Wa was once known for having the world's largest flea. Now we are known for the Western Washington state fair, one of the ten largest in the nation.
I don't know who took our flea achievement away from us.

We are near Mesa Verde National Park, also Four Corners monument (where Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona meet). Short drive to mountains in one direction and to the desert in the other. And of course it is my home.

Ready?
First of all, Pittsburgh was always known as the Steel Capital of the World along with our black smoky, smoggy skies. That's all gone now, but has been replaced with a beautiful downtown Pittsburgh skyline, and steel production has been replaced by cutting edge technology and educational opportunities.
We have wonderful universities (U. of Pittsburgh, Duquesne and Carnegie Mellon) and world reknown hospitals (i.e. Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, Allegheny General, and many others) where pioneering procedures like transplants, experimental medicine, advanced research, etc. occur.
Of course, there is our "The Point" where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet at to form the mighty Ohio.
We won "Best City to Live" twice in the last several year.
We are know for our friendliness.
We have many historical sites from the American Revolution.
Pittsburgh is well know for our ethnicity including languages, religions, foods, customs and cultures from all over the world and which are celebrated many times each year with festivals, parades, huge picnics, etc.
The world's first radio station was established in Pittsburgh in 1920, KDKA, 1020 on the dial (FM) and it is still going strong.
Pittsburgh is also the home of the first newspaper published west of the Alleghenies (mountains) on July 29, 1886.
And then there are our sport teams - the Pirates (baseball), the Penguins (hockey) and of course, the Steelers, and we lay claim as the home of the all-powerful Steeler Nation Fan Base - the widest-based fan organization in the country!
No matter who you are or where you are from, there is something for everyone in Pittsburgh!
Can you tell how proud I am?

Actually Florida lost the title of Lightning Capital of the World a few years ago to a town on the coast of Africa; where most the storms resonate from that create the hurricanes. BUT during summer storms I would swear we are still the lightning capital!! :-) Have never experienced anything like it!!

The coast of FL we live on is known for the many treasures on sunken ships that were brought here during the 17th & 18th centuries by ships, including pirate ships.
Like SewMomma66 mentioned, Florida is known as the “Lightening Capital of the World.”
