It just makes you wonder what that person was thinking when they threw it away. I guess some people just don't have an appreciation for the "finer things in life." LOL You did a great job and so did your mother by rescuing that treasure.

I'm always amazed at what people throw away. It's a great pattern too. What an efficient way to clean out your scrap basket, and it's one of those patterns where you can make it as big or small as you want.

Beautiful save!!! It's a shame when some people don't know what a treasure they have.

This quilt is beautiful. It makes me think of my 1st one. I discovered it in a basket of my neighbors. She didn't like it and she had it for a stray cat to lay on. I ask her if I traded something , would you trade me that quilt top? She said yes. I took the whole top straight to my washing machine. It was so nasty. After washing it on gentle, I discovered it had madris Plaid in it. It blead on some of the pieces. I called my Mother. She took the now really tattered top and quilted it. She had no training at the time and used light blue thread and long stitches. She has since repaired it many times over the years. I wanted to cut it up and she ask me not to do that......so it remains a treasure from the trash. What pattern ? It was a Grandmother's Flower Garden. A foot note........I would in no way recommend washing a top that isn't quilted. Today I know that.........I just could not think past the condition it was in.
