You might try Checkbook covers. I know a lot of young people today don't use checkbooks, but my teenage granddaughters were thrilled with them One of them plans to put a small calendar in hers.

I have made chenille hot pads using layers of flannel. They are really pretty and a friend paid me to make her about 10 for her to use as Christmas gifts. There is a pattern for them. They are different from regular pot holders. Also popular in So CA are small purses that hang around your neck for walkers and runners. They can hold a cell phone, charge card or drivers license and a key, etc. There are patterns for those too.
Also, items made with batiks really stand out from other handmade crafts. Good luck.
Oh, my granddaughter needed to earn some money before Christmas. We made and sold quart jars with layered cookie mixes in them. We added pinked fabric circles tied with a ribbon around the lid and attached an instruction tag. You can also do soup mixes. We sold them for $10.00 each and sold all that we made.

How about pillowcase dresses. There are many tutorials on youtube. Instead of ribbon on the shoulders I cut 2 - 2" strips from the top of the pillowcase to make my own seam binding. I buy the pillowcases at Saver's for $1-2 but GW probably has them too. Quick, easy and so cute I can hardly stand it!

Quilted potato microwave bags - I thought they were a gimic and received one at a regional quilt conference. I have used it ever since and have made for door prizes and gifts. They are simple to make - search online.

One thing that I sold at craft shows, that went as soon as the people saw them, were "Tooth Fairy Pillows". I made small ones, about 6" x 4" and sold them for $3 ea. You have to make a pocket for the tooth but make it big enough for a 50 piece or a dollar bill. My grandson thinks his teeth are worth $5 each because his is "special". Use cute children fabric and put a bow on the girl's. Good luck.
