Just hang on to your OS strap (oh sh--). Log cabin is a great beginners quilt. I teach it alot. It's not necessarily the easiest (I think the Rail Fence is easier) but it does teach you the 3 things you need to be successful in quiltmaking. 1) cut accurately 2) sew 1/4" accurately and 3) press accurately (press not iron). There are alot of pieces to a log cabin and that's what makes it a good beginners project because you get the practice in to master the techniques. Perhaps size it down to a wallhanging to manage the number of blocks and see if that helps. Hope this encourages you to continue.

Oh, goodness yes. At times I'm astonished that I can remember quite well all the cuss words I've overheard in my long life. And my wide eyed cats just stare at me and slooowly back down and creep out of the room when Mamma opens her big mouth and bad words come out!!

Then it's time for chocolate, a diet pepsi and some book reading time, then back to the sewing machine all relaxed and ready to sew and sew some more,

Wow I haven't attempt one yet. Wondering if I should.
Maybe someone can show us on you tube. That would be cool. I learn a lot from you tube.

If you would be willing to part with this UFO.. I would be willing to buy it cheap and turn it into a log cabin for me :)

I teach Log Cabin as a beginner quilt class..what I see is.. it's usually in the cutting or 1/4" inch in the sewing..Eleanore Burns way of pre-cutting(long strips) and chain sewing is the safest way to do them..if your chain piecing and a little off.. they all will be a little off..therefore they will still match up!! You should always square up after each round..hope this helps..lol..yes I cursed a lot just lately..working on a Bargello !!

LOL! I positivly hate log cabins for some reason!
They sew wonky because they stretch, perhaps.
so I don't sew them....

I did a paper-pieced log cabin Christmas wall hanging recently and got SO bored. It'll be a while before I do another one. As for swearing - oh yes. For a crash course in basic Anglo Saxon come to my house when my machine is playing up....
