I will be traveling through Michigan soon, including Mackinac Island. Wondering where the best quilt shops are to visit!

Wow! Ben Franklin in Gaylord is a must see. There is one on 72 just east of Turtle Creek Casino that is Great. Sew Eligant in Pt. Huron has a great selection, and downtown Bay City has the Fabric Fair. Man, there are a lot of them, PM me if you want more info. Maybe I can get DH to help0 me remember them all. I'm horrible with that.

Use the search button at the top of the page and enter Michigan Quilt Shops. There's quite a few listed.

Thank you so much-I'll check them out. I have actually been to the Ben Franklin in Gaylord. We stayed there one time a couple of years ago. I bought several pieces of fabric there! Thanks again for the other suggestions. I love going to quilt shops when out of town!

    Here's a post with quite a few listings --http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-109549-1.htm

I'll add Elm Creek in Farwell ("near" Clare). It's not big, but it's a very nice little quilt shop.

Looks for copies of the COUNTRY REGISTER a newspaper that carries advertisement for a lot of quilt shops. I plan my quilting shop stops as I drive up the state / I-75.... using this paper it is organized into sections with maps and various quilt shops, gift shops locations. Any shop that advertises in the paper gets 100 plus copies of the paper to hand out to shoppers. I always get a copy to plan my trips.

If you post what towns you are going through I can tell you a number of shops to stop at.

Clair Mi which is mid state... look for Elm Creek Shop... it sells garden supplies but has a quilt shop with about 3000 plus bolts... maybe more.

    email me at
    [email protected]

and I will try and send you a copy before your trip

I'll have to ask my sister-in-law if she knows about this shop. She lives in Clare and has a wonderful quilting room. When my brother built the garage he added a second story just for her quilting and now she has a mid arm quilting machine.

If you are driving up through Michigan from a state below us and can stop at the quilt shop in Marshall, Michigan you won't be sorry. And here in Grand Rapids I love the Attic Window on the north side of town.
