I live in Canada but visit Waterford Michigan and Davenport Florida regularly and I am looking for great guilt shops in those locations. And since this is such a huge group I am thinking that someone or perhaps many members can give me great info!!!
I am willing to drive about 1 hour from each location just to get the unique piece of material!!

The last I knew there was a nice one right in the middle of town in Davenport. Or you can go to Winter Haven and they have 2 right accross the st from on another. If you cross the border in Port Huron there is one there also. I am sure looking in the phone book those cities on the net will tell you where they are.

I work at a great quilt shop in Brighton, MI. We are about a half hour from Waterford. It's Creative Quilt Kits (and yes we sell fabric too,) and have over 4,000 bolts of fabric.

We are at 8599 W. Grand River, Suite B. You could take M-59 to US 23, south. In about 8 miles, you'll come to I-96, go west. It will be Exit #145, Grand River. Go left on Grand River. You'll pass a bunch of fast food restrauants on your left, the last one is Taco Bell and we are the second drive past Taco Bell, on your left. We are in the Davis Office Center (we are located among doctors and dentists!) The sign is very small (local sign laws!!) Store phone number is 810-225-2849.

Some of the quilting board members are planning a Michigan get-together. The use the link below to follow the thread.

Huron River Quilts

This shop is not too far from Waterford, MI....I was born and raised in the area, and moved to northern Michigan about 8 years ago. This shop is not far from my mom's house in White Lake and I go there every time I visit my mom.

Hi,
There is a wonderful quilt shop north of Waterford. It is called Mabelena's and is located in downtown Ortonville. You will the the owner and staff. One of my favorite places. If you go to Dixie Highway and then to North on M-15 or Ortonville Rd
through Clarkston and then to downtown Ortonville you should be able to find it. I'm sure the people you are staying with will probably have better directions. It's about a half an hour away. Tell Brenda Ellen said "Hi"

Kelly....I've been there too. Very nice....She even displayed my quilt labels there. Not sure if they are still up. I haven't been in for a while.

Sorry for such a late reply; been out of town for 2 weeks. Winter Haven is close to Davenport, as is Kissimmee. In Winter Haven the best quilt shop in central FL is Heartfelt Quilting and Sewing. They carry Janome and HQ machines and a HUGE inventory of fabrics, books, patterns, notions and threads. I just can't imagine that you would be dissappointed if you visit here - it's probably about 15-20 miles from Davenport. The one in Kissimmee is called Queen Ann's Lace and also has fabulous fabric, notions, books, patterns, etc. They are a Bernina dealer. Hope this note reaches you in time for your planning.
