    Default Help, I've never made a portrait quilt before and need help

    with the quilting.... except for the face and hands could I just all over quilt or stipple? help, and thanks for imput

    i am not sure of an answer, but i wanted to tell you that the picture is huge to the point where i had to look to find the subject. you might want to resize it so that others can see what you are referring to.

    yes, virginia, i think an all over design would be good. my thought would be to do loop de loops with musical notes thrown in from time to time

    I'm no expert but I would go around each of the elements like the keyboard and the outline of the shirt and his arm, the microphone etc and do a brick like patten on the wall behind and then maybe a stipple in the sky.
    You did a magnificent job of this quilt, you should be very proud

    ​I would check the quilting distance requirements for the batt. Since it looks wallhanging size? You could probably go beyond the quilting distances without problems. I think I would outline stich around all the features in the quilt. In the writing in the blue, I would underline quilt it following the spiral.

    Hi Virginia, I agree with woody. I think stippling just the sky area and outlining the rest would show them off better. By the what, your quilt is absolutely beautiful.

    Gorgeous! Outline stitching around the main parts, instead of stippling the sky, wall and piano area I'd do those in the musical notes and I would underline quilt the writing, too. All great suggestions from others -- I can't think of anything I'd do differently than that....

    I'm sorry I don't have a clue how to quilt it, but there's tons of ideas from others, but wanted to tell you that your quilt is gorgeous, please do post another picture when you're done. Once again, what a fantastic quilt.
