Default HST Quilt Finish

A dear student who has just graduated from high school told me a couple months ago that her sweet mother was just diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. I just finished this for her, hoping it might bring a little comfort. Her mom is a graphic designer so I wanted to keep the colors calming, but the design interesting. The design was inspired by a couple quilts I saw that were neat, and I just took elements that I liked and lumped them all together! The pillow pocket ended up being too big, since the design didn't lend itself super well to dividing by 3 and 4, and I was worried about lots of people saying the pocket was too small when used with the 3:4 ratio so I guess it's more like a quilt in a bag vs a quillow. That's ok, I think it will still be usable. I did all the piecing and quilting on my Janome 7318 with the new foam insulation setup and it worked so awesomely. Just wish I'd buckled down and gotten the foam cut and covered sooner!

Good for you!!!
My DH prefers a quillow with a big quilted pocket he can put his big old feet into.

What a lovely gift. The bag is a nice alternative to a quillow. I'm sure she'll really appreciate the quilt and the bag.

Thanks everyone! I actually sewed the pillow pocket into the backing of the quilt so that it would double as a foot warmer. It's all flannel on the back for that extra cozy feeling.
