Default VIntage Top Quilted

A lady I know asked if I would quilt this grandmothers fan top for her. She said her grandmother made it and she had it just sitting in a drawer for 20 years. Her grandmother was killed in an auto accident and didn't finish it. Most of the blocks were hand sewn, some machine. One side was about 6 inches longer than the other also had a big ruffle in the middle of the border. I took the border apart at the ruffle and took up all the extra fabric to make it fit better and just squared up as best I could. If I made it totally square it would have cut into a few of the fans so left it mostly longer on one side. The blocks were not all square so there a few tucks or small gathers in the body but not too bad IMHO. Just quilted simple loops all over. Anyway, done is better than in a drawer, so here it is. Thanks for looking

Wonderful quilt. The pink and minty green fabrics are so true to the era.

I love these old quilts that have been saved from a lifetime in a drawer. You did good!

All too often, the reason tops have been stuffed in a draw for years is because they did not turn out square. But it is such a joy to see them finished and the families enjoying them. You did a wonderful job making this one into something the family and use and cherish.
