Braid quilts made with jelly rolls ?
I was looking at a beautiful scrap pattern for a braid quilt. It used 2 inch strips. I have many jelly rolls I would like to use and am wondering if the 2 1/2 inch width is OK? I know we make our own rules in quilting, but I’m not wanting to make this and have it turn out yucky. Any suggestions are welcome.

Our quilt shop has a class and participants can either use a jelly roll or 2 1/2 inch strips. The shop sample used a really nice jelly roll, but, I'm enamored right now with scraps so if I make one, I will cut my own 2 1/5 inch strips

My first thought is that it won't make any difference, and I still don't think it will. However, it occurred to me that with the wider strips, you could maintain the proportions by adding 25% to the length of the strips. That way, you would either have a 25% larger quilt or use fewer braids.
You could also use a 1/2" seam allowance on the sides if you have a specific pattern and size you want to make.

I made a braid quilt using a pattern from one of the Lintott's jelly roll books. Turned out quite nice and was easy to make. The books might be available from your local library. I'm attaching a photo - you can see the shape that is cut from the jelly roll strip. It's basically just a 45 degree at one end.
