Wow, these are beautiful. Guess I will decide now which is best: the plain or the one with the squares.

I've never bought a jelly roll, but I did make a braid and cut my pieces to 2 1/2 on purpose. It came out just fine. You should have no problem.

Adding the square helps to use up more scraps.
